The Gem Series explores the depth and hidden beauty of gemstones through layered sculptural paper constructions inspired by colour, light and geological form. Recessed spaces, shadow and reflected light evoke hidden caverns, seams and illuminated pockets within the earth where gemstones are formed and discovered. Pearl is the only gem formed by a living organism, its soft layers and quiet light evoke a hidden radiance born within the sea. A luminous beauty shaped not within the earth, but by life itself.

 

Made with hand-cut, layered acid-free paper, sealed with a protective finish, presented in an oak box frame.
